Intel Gives Free Far Cry 2 Missions

Or at least lets owners unlock the missions already in the game.

With all the talk of in-game advertising and product placement, sometimes the simple promotion methods work best with gamers. Case in point is Intel’s ‘sponsoring’ of two free missions for Far Cry 2.

Released today via Intel’s ‘Game On’ website, the mission pack promises three hours of gameplay developed by Ubisoft Montreal. This is spread over two new missions titled ‘The American’ and ‘The Morrocan’ (sic) which are exclusive to Intel (or as exclusive as a downloadable executable file can be).

There doesn’t appear to be any special ‘Intel’ features in the mission pack. Maybe it assumes that most of the people running Far Cry 2 will be doing so on Intel chips (a fair assumption in today’s market). It is a sponsorship exercise, pure and simple.

They aren’t even specially created missions, either. It seems that this pack unlocks missions already within the game, much like some Xbox Live bonus content. As the end of the announcement says:

How to get these missions

These bonus missions are two of six in total that you can unlock and play. When you complete the first six, you will be able to play a seventh bonus mission.

However, the two missions brought to you by Intel Game On can only be unlocked by downloading and running the exclusive Intel Game On program below. Simply run FarCry2IntelMissions.exe from your PC to get access to the first mission: ‘The Morrocan’. Completing that mission unlocks the second mission: ‘The American’.

If you want to get your hands on this content you already have, you can download the ‘unlocking’ program at Intel’s website.
