Valve's latest 'Meet the Team' video features spy, your mum.

Valve is the other company alongside Blizzard that, time permitting, I have no doubt could make a full, feature-length movie worth watching. Luckily, we’re treated to occasional teases in this direction through the hilarious marketing videos it releases for Team Fortress 2.

Since mid-2007, we’ve met six out of the nine playable classes through this series, so far. The heavy was the first class to receive the treatment, and we’ve essentially now met his sensitive self twice, the latest being his spine-breaking, sandvich escapades. We’ve also been introduced to the trigger-crazed soldier, the rather blissful engineer, the angry demoman, the vainglorious scout, and finally the extremely Australian sniper.

I have to say, each new video progressively gets better. The latest shows us the shenanigans of the spy, and although it isn’t yet officially available (at the time of writing), some nefarious soul conveniently ‘leaked’ it over the weekend. It’s much less a ‘day in the life of’-type clip like the rest, but it’s definitely entertaining and even features a plot twist you can’t seriously tell me you saw coming.

Update: Valve has now officially published the Meet the Spy clip, along with the class’s list of achievements. There’s also a bonus ‘Valve Corporate Achievement’ it included at the bottom. “It’s the only way we’ll learn,” it declares, followed by the following achievement text that explains the leak. “UNLOCKED - Welcome to the internets: Fail to understand what ‘Private’ means on YouTube.”
