Trailer for indie game where you play psychic assassin in the future.
A new trailer has surfaced for the upcoming independent Source game known only as E.Y.E., a game that is so mysterious, even the abbreviated words are completely unknown to us. A role-playing game that meets the first-person shooter, it supports not only single-player, but also co-operative and multiplayer modes, all of which can directly influence each other. “The limits of solo and multiplayer games are finally left behind,” says developer Streum on Studio.
The game transpires in a “dark and mysterious universe,” says the developer, adding that it’s “inspired by Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell and Warhammer 40,000”. E.Y.E. seems to take a chapter out of Deus Ex, too, offering upgradeable cybernetic implants as well as a research and development system. Mixing it all together, Streum says it serves “a delicate scenario where conspiracy, horror and treason rule.”
Without going into too much detail on the back story – which is truly something, although I’m not sure I can pin the right word on it – shit is basically going down. Set in a future so post-modern that time has reset itself (the year 15, or what we, today, call 2395), humanity has started spreading itself throughout the universe, forming colonies on various planets. Those on Mars, in fact, declared their independence and then proceeded to nuke the crap out of Earth because they went insane and discovered some funky new technology, and not necessarily in that order. The favour, of course, was returned, and the Martians suddenly ceased to be. It gets a bit confusing from here.
Apparently Yoda is your stamina.
A few more fruity tales of back stabbings and new alliances than we cared to read about later (all of which you can find out right here) and you’re basically playing a spy assassin with psychic abilities in a highly war-torn future. You can also go invisible.
Anyway, here’s what seems to be a work-in-progress trailer, mostly only demonstrating the action side of the unfinished game. Fingers crossed on this title.
