Demo for Zeno

Freely decide whether you like the wildly exotic game for yourself.

The developer behind Zeno Clash, ACE Team, has finally released a demo for the twisted and adventurous first-person melee fighter. If you haven’t yet picked it up, now’s your chance to take it for a spin and see for yourself whether it’s too weird, and therefore clearly worth landing some money on.

According to the developer, you’ll be able to try out both sides to the game. The demo features a serving of the single player story and also a small helping of the arcade tower challenge mode, in which you can experience the first level. This includes leader board support specifically for the demo, so you can compare e-peens with others on your friends list. We would have tried the demo, ourselves, but New Enthusiast Manor’s internet connection is on the verge of being commandeered by our speed-shaping overlords.

With all the eager filer sharers keen to try it out, it may have helped to release a demo prior to unleashing the full version. Regardless, ACE does appear to grasp how many gamers are probably a tad queasy at planting money down on such a bizarre new game without first giving it a quick run. Unconventional games like this really do need a demo.

“Have some buddies who are unsure about the game, or are afraid of too much weirdness?” asks developer Carlos Bordeu on the Zeno Clash blog. “Now everyone can try before they buy!” This may be a reference to all the file sharers who claimed they were just having a quick taste of the game before they purchase it. Deftly understanding the competition, he concludes with “go tell your friends to get their butts off Left4Dead for a while and try it out!”

Although Zeno Clash is currently up for purchase through both Direct2Drive and Steam, the demo is only available on the latter system, right here. Just as New Enthusiast reader Stange has expertly commented in our impressions of the title, we’d love to hear what you think of the game.
