Simple test mod transforms Fallout 3 into a psychological thriller.
A bunch of keen German modders have taken Fallout’s vault concept to its logical and very malevolent conclusion. Called Cube Experimental, it’s a single-player mod for Fallout 3 that exhibits strong ties with the Cube movie series. As you might expect, it places you in the shoes of the curious, yet imminently doomed protagonists.
Cube Experimental started out as a simple test project to see how far the Fallout 3 engine could go, says developer SureAI Team, but it became something much larger. The mod “places a hidden entrance of a forgotten cube complex in the wasteland of Washington D.C.,” it explains. “To explore it, you only need your current Fallout 3 character.”
Currently, only the Deutsch edition is available, so unless that language’s tubby accents keep you amused, it might get a tad confusing at times. It’ll work under the English version of the game, so you can give it a whirl. The developer does, however, promise to release an English version once both the translation and the new voice acting are complete. But why dub in boring English when you already have terrifying German?
Anyway, here’s the trailer.
Certainly not the first Cube mod to come about, it reminds us of the Source-based title released a number of years ago that’s known as Hypercube: Source. That one, however, is set in the specific Cube 2: Hypercube environment, whereas Cube Experimental takes cues from all three films.

That looks really cool, i'm a little over 100 hours into the PC version of Fallout 3. Other than the 3 official add-ons I haven't actually tried any mods yet mainly because i'm worried about it messing up my save file but also because I think the vanilla version of Fallout 3 is fascinating enough has it is.
I don't think i'll give any of the mods a try until I've finished Fallout 3 (before i peruse the main quest i want to explore the entire wasteland and do all side quests). Man… Fallout 3 is easily the best RPG i've ever played, I haven't had this much fun with a RPG since Chrono Trigger.
The only mod i'd risk is one that adds a set of legs when you're in the first person perspective.

Waaagh.
Fallout 3 would have been better, (This is a.. picky thing, rather than a technical thing) if it was set 50 years, tops, after the boom.
Then I'd believe sealed and preserved food might be intact still. Not 250. Its a silly thing, I know. But it really bothers me. :P
